Curriculum Vitae

Jens Louis Karel Korzilius

Soon-to-be graduate in Clinical Psychology, who found his passion for statistics and data analysis during his studies and pivoted to apply and improved them in a business intelligence context. Every day, next to my studies, I self-learn more and more skills to make this dream a reality. I am a fast and motivated learner, and not afraid to ask questions. Below you can read about my journey, which recently took me from my home town of Tilburg to the beautiful Rotterdam, and what has brought me to this point.

Education

Bachelor of Science, Psychology • 2021 — Present

Major in Clinical Psychology, minor in Data Science

Currently finishing up my thesis about the influence of feedback seeking behaviours on depressive symptoms. The curriculum included courses on research methodology, statistical analyses and academic writing. I dedicated my minor to programming in Python, machine learning and database systems, and took additional courses on data structures and data analysis. As for extracurriculars, I organized events for the study association and took part in numerous symposia from Studium Generale, where I learned about the latest developments in psychology and related fields.

Propaedeutics, Applied Psychology • 2020 — 2021

The program that solidified my love for psychology and the human mind. Very hands-on and group-work focused, allowing for tons of practice in communication, self-reflection and teamwork. Also graduated during COVID lockdowns, so I learned to get used to and thrive in an online working environment.

High School Diploma (HAVO) • 2020

Completed an accelerated adult high school program, taking two years worth of classes in one year. Graduated during the COVID lockdowns.

Projects

Data Analyst • 2025

Currently in the exploratory phase to analyze the long-term effectiveness of the personal development trainings and coaching sessions offered by Corinor. For this project, I will develop questionnaires and structured interviews to gather qualitative and quantitative data from participants. I will then analyze the data and write a report to be used both internally and externally. The goal is to assess the impact of these programs on personal growth and well-being, as well as the positive impact on the workplace environment.

Static web developer • 2025

I developed this website to showcase the projects I am working on and the skills I am learning. Building it allowed me to learn more about Jekyll, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I am also using it to practice my writing skills and to learn more about SEO and web development as a whole.

Experience

Junior Business Intelligence Consultant • Jul, 2025 — Current

I recently started my newest challenge at Hippoline, a data intelligence company in Moordrecht. They have a focus on the mortgage and insurance sector, but make BI and data solutions for all kinds of companies. I'm super excited to expand both my technical skills and domain knowledge in this wonderful group of like-minded individuals.

Hotel receptionist & Night auditor • Jun, 2023 — Apr, 2025

As a hotel receptionist, I was responsible for checking in and out guests, as well as solving any problems that might arise during their stay. During my shifts, I was the sole phone and email operator for over 10 locations for the Bonheur Horeca Group. I also worked as a night auditor, where I was responsible for the safety of all the guests during the night. I took part in regular fire and medical safety trainings. This job taught me how to work independently, as well as how to handle stressful situations with a calm demeanor.

Administrative Employee & Account Manager • 2020 — 2023

At the subsidy bureau Considium I was responsible for the development and maintenance of both new and existing client relationships. This meant I handled incoming over-the-phone communication, as well as reaching out to potential new clients to see what we could do for them. Next to this role, I designed and maintained the filing system for all incoming documents needed to apply for subsidies, as well as replying to all incoming email traffic. Switching between these two hats taught me how to prioritize my tasks and how to work efficiently without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Various employers

Dishwasher, Server, Bartender, Delivery driver... • 2015 — 2020

My parents taught me the value of hard work, and if I wanted to buy something for myself, I better get a job to pay for it. Due to moving around, and then the COVID lockdowns shutting down the companies I worked at, I took on a lot of different jobs in and around the hospitality industry. I started with this from the age of 14, which taught me how to quickly adapt to new environments and start bringing value to employers.

Skills

Presenting & Public speaking

In highschool I got to the finals of the Dutch national debating competition (NK Debatteren). This gave me the confidence and speaking skills to clearly present my ideas in front of large crowds; something I have been continually improving since starting my studies.

Active Listening

Whether it's a client in a (mock) psychological intake interview, a potential customer looking for the best deal on a product, or discussing issues with my family, listening is key. Getting to the core of what someone is really asking, instead of making assumptions about what you think they're saying is one of the most valuable skills that I pride myself on.

Data Analysis in Python

I've been using Pandas, statsmodels and many more for data manipulation and cleaning, along with Seaborn, Matplotlib, Plotly and more for visualization. With these packages I make Jupyter Notebooks about both my personal interests and important issues, the results of which will be shared on this website.

SQL

Data can't be analyzed if it can't be accessed. That's why one of the first tools I learned when starting my transition to analytics was SQL. I've since completed multiple certifications using SQL and designed database schemas and implementations for multiple university projects.

Statistics

Before university I never liked math, and believed I would never be good at it. But statistics gave me a concrete reason to use math; to make inferences about the world with more certainty. With this as my motivation, I learned to love math and statistics, and now understand them to a level I would have never believed possible.
